About Lilys Law

In the more than 25 years that I have supervised divorces as a lawyer and divorce mediator, it is my experience that every divorce eventually comes to an end. Some divorces are smooth and friendly, others visceral slow and bitter. Every divorce has its own dynamics, but really, every divorce comes to an end.

Hence Lilys Law’s motto: “everything will be okay in the end, if it’s not okay, it’s not the end yet”.

With this motto I want to give my clients hope and confidence that there is always light at the end of the tunnel. Those who are getting divorced need to regain confidence in the future after processing their grief.

The question that always has to be asked: what do you want your world to look like after the divorce?

The answer to that question gives direction for the future and during the divorce already puts the focus on the period after that.
Because that is the way you are going.
I trust that after the divorce, just like those millions who have gone before, everyone will be able to build a beautiful life again.

I help to clarify that vision of the future, emotionally, financially and, of course, legally. So you know what you’re working towards.

I sometimes compare supervising a divorce with my greatest passion, long-distance cycling. During my trip from Utrecht to Santiago de Compostella I experienced what it’s like to renounce, to go deep, to keep trust and to stay positive.

A purifying experience.

Former Deputy Judge

In addition to my law practice, I worked for several years as a deputy judge. The added value of that is that I have been able to experience – also from a judge’s perspective – which arguments convince the court in proceedings and which do not. What works and what doesn’t. What is reasonable and what doesn’t stand a chance. That is essential for my clients in litigation practice.

In 2015 I realised my dream: to have my own firm. The cooperation with other specialists (e.g. tax advisers, tax specialists, (children’s) therapists, civil-law notaries) – if necessary – enables me to offer full service guidance and that contributes to an optimal result. Ultimately, it’s all about being able to say “in the end”: the divorce is well arranged, I can now get on with my life.

Don’t look back, you’re not going that way.
