Step-by-step divorce mediation

Your divorce mediation is arranged in four steps. Clarity is important to you. The process of divorce is already difficult enough. With this step-by-step plan you will have a handle on the process of separating.

Step 1

Intake

Both partners fill in the intake form and send it to the mediator for the first substantive discussion. The mediator discusses the intake form with both partners in a meeting lasting approximately one and a half hours.
At the end of the discussion it is clear which topics will be discussed during the mediation and which order will be used.

Step 2

Collecting information

Within two working days after the intake interview you will receive the first Appointment and Action List. The topics that will be discussed are included. You will be asked to collect the information necessary for the mediation to succeed. You will of course receive a manual for this from me.
If applicable, you will receive a model of the parenting plan.

Stap 3

Mediation-
meeting

At the start of the first mediation interview, the mediation agreement will be signed. I work with the mediation agreement approved by the vFAS. After each meeting you will receive a new Appointment and Action List.
As soon as the agreements to be made take shape, a draft covenant is drawn up. This draft will be sent to you for the next mediation meeting. In this way you can prepare yourself well at home.
A mediation meeting takes 1.5 to 2 hours.

Stap 4

Finalisation

Once all issues have been discussed and agreement has been reached on the arrangements to be made, the parenting plan and/or covenant can be signed.
The court will confirm the agreements made and, if necessary, dissolve the marriage or registered partnership.
The divorce becomes official by its registration in the civil registry.
